Description
Some of the unit tests in the test (not spec) directory were broken by changes in 0.25.1 —> 0.25.4; these need to be examined to see if the tests or the code is at fault. Code problems should be opened as separate tickets targeted at 0.25.4; this ticket is for the faulty test cases.

Note that this patch is not intended for 0.25.4 (which is presently in rc lockdown) but should be merged into 0.25.x immediately after 0.25.4 rolls out.
