On a Fedora 15 box hosted in ESX.

stahnma@rpm-builder ~> sudo facter -p | egrep 'virtual|VMware'
is_virtual => true
manufacturer => VMware, Inc.
productname => VMware Virtual Platform
serialnumber => VMware-42 32 9a d0 3a 05 0c 94-e5 19 be 4f f3 9f 3b d6
virtual => xenu

Facter version is 1.6.0

Puppet Enterprise 2.5:

$ sudo /opt/puppet/bin/facter -p | egrep 'virtual|VMware|facter'

is_virtual => true
